As an education leader, I have worked with a variety of teams (dysfunctional and functional) to transform their collaborative practices so that they can accomplish their shared objectives. I have done so through the effective use of norms, agendas and protocols. Furthermore, I have helped teams discover the power of healthy conflict so that the best possible decisions can be made.

As I build teams I recognize the value of diversity of thought and seek to build teams with people who fill in my gaps. I do not seek to be the smartest person in the room. Rather, I recognize that the smartest person in the room is the room. Like Abraham Lincoln, I am hungry to learn from those who may think differently than me and recognize how essential it is to interact with those who will push my thinking and bring value to the team through their abilities and approaches.

As a member of the City Council, I will facilitate our efforts to collaborate effectively in order to accomplish our desired objectives.
